The topic of my P.S.A was political ethics. This topic was chosen because of the on going neglect of these ethics by our elected officials. You are not able to turn on the television without hearing or seeing about some official who participated in some wrong doing. Another reason why I chose that topic was because a lot of these mistakes being made by our representatives affect us directly and us, the people, need to know how to change things. The P.S.A I constructed gives several examples on politician neglecting there ethics causing us to pay.
The First Example
The first example I give in my P.S.A. was the Bill Clinton Scandal. This one is fairly dated, but I did this to emphasize the fact that politicians have been over looking their ethics for quite sometime now and its not just a contemporary thing. Bill’s scandal did not affect us physically or finically, but did make us look bad because he is who we as the people chose to represent us and his action reflect us.
The second example
The second example I chose was the convection of William Jefferson. He was convicted with bribery and corruption. These actions caused him to be dishonest to his people and use their money for his own personal benefit rather than using it to benefit his community.
The third Example
The third example used was the John Ensign scandal. This scandal is similar to Bill Clinton’s, showing the people his lack of integrity as well as giving them all a bad reputation because he represents them.
The Fourth Example
The fourth example I chose was Governor Sanford’s Scandal. He was using tax payers’ money to fly to South America to see his mistress. His actions affected his people because his trips were coming out of their pocket.
Ethos
I chose these examples because they were all examples of how politician fail to uphold their ethics showing their dishonesty and lack of integrity, helping me prove my point. The order in which they go in as well helps increase my ethos because it starts from a while back to the present which shows the viewer this has been a on going situation for some time now. The pictures I used were not flattering pictures of them but more serious to help convey this sort of shamefulness to them in order to increase my ethos. The song used in my P.S.A was a dark serious beat to emphasize to my audience the importance of what I am trying to get across.
Pathos
The examples I chose were interesting and shocking examples to help appeal to the viewer in hopes they would pay attention and understand the seriousness about it. The song I used too, was to help appeal to my audience giving them the supposed tone wanted for my P.S.A..
Logos
The information used in my P.S.A. is all logical and talks about actual events to help get my point across to my audience.
Audience
My P.S.A pertains to everyone because these politicians governor our lives and we need to know how to make a change if they are failing to do their job properly and I give one example on how to do that in my P.S.A which is to vote and vote smartly.
These all were strategies used in the making of my P.S.A to help better convey my message to my audience in a more concise and effective way.
